Here at Ellwood Thompson’s, we’re a tight-knit community of food lovers that all work for the same mission: To help you discover and celebrate a healthy relationship with food. But it goes beyond that. We are a group of people that are constantly searching for the best local product, mending to our own gardens, recycling, volunteering, riding our bikes, sampling chocolates and spirits, playing in the river, washing veggies and well…having fun. To help grow our family of gardeners, cooks, creatives, healers and customer care folks, we occasionally seek talented, down-to-earth, quirky and inspired individuals to be a part of our Richmond, Virginia team. You see, because we are a locally-owned independent market we don’t take the hiring process lightly. Current Job Openings
Grocery / Essentials Manger & Buyer (Full Time)
What we’re looking for here is a one-of-a-kind individual to manage and lead the grocery/essentials division of the store. We highly recommend that applicants have previous manger experience as well as a genuine love for natural and organic products that we carry. Applicants must have excellent customer service, experience in retail, great people skills and a drive to seek out new, high-quality products for our store. The ability to effectively manage multiple situations simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, initiate and follow through on project details. Applicants should have great communication skills and a desire for team building, and problem solving, as well as strong leadership and mentor skills.
Grocery Team Member (Full Time)
We are looking for a full time team member to work in the Grocery & Essentials department of the store. Applicants should have a general knowledge of organic and local foods, an outgoing personality, exceptional customer service and the ability to organize and prioritize. Applicants should be able to lift 100 pounds or more and being a bit of a “foodie” is an extra bonus.
Front End Cashier (Full Time)
We are looking for a full time team member to work in the front end of the store as a cashier. Applicants should have a strong attention to detail and amazing customer service, strong & positive attitude towards all walks of life and an engaging and out going personality. You should be able to prioritize, organize and handle stressful and busy situations well.

1. We love meeting people face to face, so come in. Head up to the Customer Service desk once you walk in, tell the Manager on Duty what position you’re applying we’ll get you an application. Fill it out here in the store or at home, it’s up to you, but take some time on it. If you have a resume, go ahead and attach it, we’d love to see that too. When you’re done simply give it back to the Manager on Duty or anyone at the Customer Service Desk.
